The 2020 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl couldn’t have been further from “famous.” In fact, I didn’t even know the game was going on until I was scrolling through the live feed on my favorite app to feed my addiction.

Don’t miss your son’s birthday like I did.

The match up featured the Nevada Wolf Pack and the Tulane Green Wave (might be a lazier name than “The Football Team”) — two teams I could not tell you a single thing about. All I do know though, is that there was a juicy live spread of +13.5 (+120 odds) for Tulane at halftime that I couldn’t take my eyes off of. Tulane was only down 26-7 — consider it Lock of the Year. For those of you who aren’t familiar with point spreads, this means that I can’t have The Green Wave lose by more than 13 points. I was literally itching and scratching while mulling this over in my head, so I hammered it before someone saw me and called the police.

Could you point me in the direction of the 5 o’clock Free Crack Giveaway?

After sweating through the majority of the second half, I went upstairs to change my clothes. When I returned to the television, Tulane had given up a touchdown late in the 4th quarter to go down by 18 points. Then, to make matters worse and curb stomp my hopes and dreams, Tulane turned the ball over, setting up Nevada to run the clock out and effectively end the game. It’s not over until the fat lady sings, but knowing my luck, my fate had just been sealed.

My power, my pleasure, my pain…

Maybe it’s 2020. Maybe it’s a “Christmas Miracle.” Maybe it’s Maybelline. Whatever it was, what followed in the remaining two and half minutes will one day be enshrined into the sports gambling hall of fame, if it hasn’t already.

Due to the fact that Tulane had no timeouts remaining, Nevada took four consecutive knees to run out the clock (or so they thought). What the Wolf Pack didn’t take into account was that there would still be 10 seconds remaining in the game, with Tulane taking over on downs. So, while all that was going on on the field, here’s what was happening on the sidelines…

FOUL. CANNOT DO THAT.

The ref was not a fan of this premature celebration, or he was disappointed they weren’t curly fries from Arby’s, either way–PERSONAL FOUL. 15 YARD PENALTY. AUTOMATIC FIRST DOWN.

Still not giving a single f*** and force feeding each other french fries, Nevada leaves only 8 men on the field. The Green Wave proceed to run one final play that resulted in a 65-yard house call by Cameron Carroll, kicking in that backdoor and covering on one of the wildest rides I have ever been on.

Ding!

If there is one thing to take away from this, it’s don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. It’s probably also to not throw a bucket of french fries onto the field while there is a game going on hahahahahahah IDIOTS.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all!

Here's how the purchase went down if it was 'Always Sunny In Philadelphia.'

As I sit here to write this, it is in fact NOT sunny in Philadelphia — but that hasn’t rained on Mac’s parade, as he and an unsuspecting business partner have just gone in on the investment of a lifetime.

*Cue intro music*

This took me by surprise as well. Soccer is not too big in America, and definitely not in Philadelphia. We bleed green for our Birds and that’s really all that matters at the end of the day. So, you might ask, “why would Mac buy a European soccer club?” Mac hasn’t even been to Wales, and probably couldn’t even point it out to us on a map — we all know Charlie definitely can’t.

Also, not just why, but how?

Maybe the idea stemmed from the business partner I briefly mentioned before. I suppose you’re wondering who that might be…

Van Wilder, not the girl from the pie banging movie.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with him, Van Wilder, is a trust fund baby who took eight years to graduate from Coolidge College, where all he did was drink, sleep with women, befriend the guy from Harold and Kumar, and send Tara Reid into a Britney Spears-like mental breakdown. I did as much digging as I could at the library (not sure why there would be any information on Van Wilder and his interests at the library), but couldn’t find any connection to soccer or Wales.

My mind was racing as I walked back to my house. Thinking about all of the possibilities as to why they bought this random team had me in a daze and I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings or where I was going. It wasn’t until I noticed that I was lost that I also began to feel like I was being followed. I picked up my pace, but the quicker I moved the louder the footsteps behind me got. Stricken with fear, adrenaline kicked in, so I stopped, turned, and braced for impact.

D.E.N.N.I.S.

I should have known it was him. Turns out Dennis was losing his mind over the reasoning behind this purchase, just as I was. After insisting on us returning to his apartment to talk so we can “be behind a locked door,” Dennis shared his findings with me.

While he wasn’t able to discover why they chose the Welsh soccer club, he did uncover the truth about the Van Wilder partnership. I don’t know why I thought I was going to be shocked, but it was pretty straight forward as anyone would expect–Mac wanted to find a younger guy that reminded him of Dennis, in order to make Dennis jealous (so he can ultimately achieve his goal of banging him).

After an hour of listening to Dennis scream about how much better looking he is than Van Wilder, I was able to convince him to unlock the door and let me go by agreeing with him that he had a better body, and that his jaw had to have been chiseled by the Gods themselves. While I’m happy for Mac that he achieved his goal of making Dennis jealous, that still doesn’t get me the answer to the question that started this whole thing–why soccer, and more importantly why Wrexham?

Just then it clicked.

Wrexham. The answer was right in front of us the whole time — in the name! This investment is clearly the doing of the person who should’ve been the prime suspect from the beginning.

The Warthog Strikes Again

Surprisingly enough, it wasn’t hard to find Frank. I ran into him at Wendy’s during my lunch break. He and Artemis were coming out of the bathroom in a hurry, covered in sweat, when I stopped him to ask about The Gang’s recent acquisition. He immediately spilled the beans, going into great detail about how he went back into the ocean to find the rum ham that floated away while he and Mac were on the life raft in the middle of the Atlantic.

He went on to say that he passed out from exhaustion while swimming and washed up on shore in Wales. He was a bit disoriented when he came-to and wandered into the town of Wrexham. Frank didn’t know this at the time, instead he thought he was following signs towards the rum ham. Eventually his path lead him to the soccer stadium, where the team welcomed him with open arms, giving him a place to stay and rest up.

When he awoke the next day, he realized he was not in the house of rum ham, but greatly appreciated Wrexham’s hospitality. So, in return for their kindness, Frank made the owner of the club an offer he couldn’t refuse (10% stake in Wolf Cola and Fight Milk), and purchased the team. It also turns out that Mac really had nothing to do with the team, Frank just bought it in his name to cover his own ass if anything goes wrong. The Van Wilder beef cake was just there to distract him.

While Wales would not rename the team and town to “Rum Ham,” they did compromise and turn rum ham into their national dish.

P.S. The video Mac and Van made to announce their purchase is pretty great.

Like most people, I feel that I am no stranger to bad luck. For me, it’s usually car trouble or sports betting (or I just suck at gambling), but I have also had my fair share of missed/cancelled/delayed flights. I am still waiting on my compensation from China Eastern Airlines for what they did to me in Shanghai over a year ago, but that’s another story for another day. With all that said, I must admit it felt somewhat satisfying when I heard the news of the Bucs’ flight to Charlotte being delayed for six-plus hours on Saturday–the day before their 1 p.m. matchup against the Panthers. It’s just good to know that people whose lives are filled with fame and fortune occasionally have to go through the same struggles as us “regular” folks.

Tom forgot his neck pillow.

According to reports from ESPN, the team held meetings and had a meal together in a private area of the airport with restricted access. However, the majority of their delay was spent on the tarmac, and this is where I sent my inside man to get the real scoop.

First he set out to find the newest member of the Bucs, Antonio Clown. It didn’t take long though, as he was seen being lead out of the air traffic control station in handcuffs. Apparently he took over operations and got into a fight with one of his other personalities, ultimately causing two private jets to collide. His status for this afternoon’s game remains in question.

At least he made the 6 o’clock news.

I’d like to think this wouldn’t have happened if Tom were watching him. Where was Tom when all of this was going down? After scouring the grounds for about an hour, my source was able to track down The Goat, finding him in one of the hangers. What was he doing, you ask? You guessed it… he built a fort with Gronk and they started training to become professional wrestlers after this season is over.

Essentially Tom and Gronk were just wrestling under a sheet in an airport hanger for an extended period of time.

No surprises here.

Where is the captain of the ship during all of this? Where is Bruce Almighty Arians?

My guy started out looking around the airport shops, as it was a safe bet that Bruce was in the market for another one of those dumb ass hats (see above). Unfortunately, those can’t be found in your regular Hudson News, so he was no where to be found. Same result for the bars, restaurants, bathrooms, customer service, baggage claim, etc. Bruce was officially a missing person. My source returned to the tarmac to gather what ever final pieces of information he could, but what he found when he got there you will not believe.

Bad Boy Bruce

The authorities had returned to the scene, only this time they were there for the last person you’d expect to see being put into the back of a patrol car. Turns out the FBI and TSA cooperated to bust Arians for intentionally damaging the planes controls, leading to the mechanical error that caused the delay. When asked why, Bruce replied, “It was a test. I wanted to see how my team would respond in the face of adversity.”

Good job, moron. That’s a felony. So now the Bucs need a new head coach, a new WR, and should be concerned that their star quarterback and tight end have much bigger plans on their minds.

Ya burnt.

Moral of the story– HAMMER the Panthers (+5.5).

For those of you who haven’t heard by now, Patriots star cornerback Stephon Gilmore was apparently floated in offers to other teams this past offseason, and very well could be once again with the trade deadline looming.

Real image of Gilmore running to another team.

If that isn’t enough to make you think he’s already packing his bags, this news broke this morning…

To be fair, it is a seller’s market.

Maybe it’s just because this is the first time in my life as a football fan that the Pats are sellers at the deadline, but I found myself asking why. Why now? Bill has never been one to just give up like that. His defense is his baby, and he’s just willing to throw away his best player because they’re 2-4? Hey Bill, the Eagles are in first place and have just as many wins as you guys…

No, I don’t think so.

The greatest coach in the history of sports is not a quitter, and certainly not a tanker. Bill has too much pride and knows that no matter how hard he tries to lose, the Jets will lose more. Not to mention, the recent news that Trevor Lawrence (the highly coveted #1 pick) might stay at Clemson another year (to avoid playing for the Jets, hahahahahaha!). With all that said, there are too many unknowns for Bill to just give away Stephon like that — there has to be another reason.

I locked myself in my room and dug deep into my resources. I searched every article on the internet to see which teams have interest in the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, hoping to connect some dots. Still nothing. I even cut the sleeves off of my hoodie and ordered a $5 Foot-Long to channel my inner Belichick in the hopes of having a revelation.

I was moments away from calling it quits and just crying myself to sleep instead, but then my phone went off. I wiped the tears from the screen to see that it was a text from my inside source and HOLY S**T I think I just exploded…

Source: REDACTED.

After the initial shock wore off, I thought about it a bit more and things started to make sense. This is the perfect time for AB to join the Bucs (the perfect sacrifice). Arians (aka Bill and Tom controlling the media) has recently been making hard-ass comments in regards to Brown, speaking of having a zero tolerance policy when it comes to special treatment. He even made similar comments earlier in the season about The GOAT, calling Tom out in front of the media (how convenient). Both instances have not painted the rosiest picture of Bruce and has put the fans’ perception of him into question — another seed planted by the master puppeteers.

Sharing a laugh about paying Illuminati membership fees.

Now that I think about it, I’m beginning to wonder if Arians is even a real person. Has this been a robot controlled by Belichick and Tom the entire time? Is Gronk even real???

Sorry. I’m getting ahead of myself.

I can keep asking myself a million different questions, but at this point this is just rumor and speculation — none of this has occurred yet. I suppose now we just have to wait and see if Gilmore is traded, and then maybe the dominoes will begin to fall.

To be continued…

As I am sure you have heard by now — especially if you’re like me and took Michael Thomas with your first round pick in fantasy — Mr. Thomas has been ruled out once again for the sixth consecutive week since suffering a high-ankle sprain at the end of the Saints’ Week 1 win. However, according to Sean Payton, this time he is out with a hamstring injury, as they were waiting to see if his hamstring “responded” well this week.

What? Respond to what? What are you talking about, Sean? Hamstring’s cannot and will not speak. If you’re waiting for it to respond, you’re going to be waiting a pretty long time. It’s scientifically impossible. I’m not sure what kind of “response” Sean is awaiting from Michael’s tendons.

Good luck getting these things to talk.

First off, how does one injure their hamstring when they are supposed to be sidelined with an ankle sprain? Could it possibly have occurred during this…?

This is why you always wear a helmet.

It was reported that MT did not immediately apologize and talked back to coaches, which ultimately led to him being suspended for one game last Monday. Again, the big takeaway from this incident is please, under no circumstances is anyone to try guarding Mike.

Thomas followed this up with a couple erratic and cryptic tweets that remind me of when AB’s CTE started kicking in…

I don’t know if these are lyrics or spoilers to Harry Potter, but what I do know is that I (and millions of others) NEED YOU ON THE FIELD, MIKE. For a guy who talks a lot of noise about being the best receiver in the game, you’ve become quite unreliable. Now there are rumors of him being traded away before the deadline, so who knows when he will see the field again. This is about as 2020 as it gets. Antonio Brown just might put up more yards than Michael Thomas this year. If you had said that to me last year then you are probably a time traveler.

Give me back my time machine!

In closing–you can’t guard Mike.

Let's take a deep-dive into who this man REALLY is.

The post Is Derrick Henry Really Who He Says He Is? A Deep Dive Investigation Into The Truth. appeared first on Korked Bats.

We are all familiar by now with the exploits of King Derrick Henry II… Josh Norman in particular.

The King doesn’t wish to parley with commoners.

Here it is again in real time…

Hahahahaha!

But, I digress, we aren’t here to continue to make fun of Josh, the rest of the internet has already taken care of that. Including us…

BAHAHAHAHA!

We are here to take a closer look at Derrick’s past, specifically his high school years, to determine if this man among boys truly is who he says he is.

Let’s start at the beginning of high school, with “Derrick’s” (if that is his real name) freshman year.

That’s not a 15-year-old.

This is where my questioning really begins — where’s his face? We can’t even put a face to a name for this alleged 15-year-old who apparently hit puberty 5 years prior to this. This kid (clearly a grown ass man) put up these numbers against varsity players who were 17, 18 and 19 (for the really dumb kids) years old.

Excuse me?

These are Wilt Chamberlain numbers… from a child. Yeah right. Moving on to his sophomore season…

Still a face-less man.

Where he seemingly shrunk 2 inches while also gaining 15 pounds. Makes sense. That’s usually what happens to 6-foot, 4-inch teenagers — and again…still no face, yet they expect us to believe this was really Mr. Henry? As you can surmise, he went on to do this that year…

He scored 15 more TDs as a 16-year-old than the entire Jets roster did in 2019.

It’s not until two years later as a senior that he finally completes his alias and we get a first real look at “D. Henry.”

Derrick “Plays football.“

By the time he was graduating, “Derrick” amassed the most absurd career stats I have ever seen…

A real human-being cannot put up these numbers in a 40-game span.

I will let you be the judge, but those statistics are preposterous. I realize high school football is not the NFL, and numbers are inflated for extremely talented players, but those are crazier than video game stats. Not to mention, he was playing in Florida, which typically has a bevy of D-1 recruits. For 40 consecutive games he never rushed for less than 100 yards, including once running for 502 yards in a single game — that is the consistency of a cyborg. As a running back that clearly got the ball on every single play, over the course of four football seasons he never missed a game and never had a bad game. Think about that for a second.

So with all that being said, I leave you with these questions:

Is Derrick Henry a robot? Is he a time traveler (which would explain his erratic height and weight changes)? Are his high school years a very loose inspiration for the film “Juwanna Mann” and the character of Carlos in “The Benchwarmers”?

Different sport, same domination.
Different sport, same forging of birth certificates (allegedly).

My guess… all of the above.

With all that has gone on in our crazy world over the past nine months, it was refreshing to see some familiar scenes down in South Philadelphia, and for about 4 hours yesterday (particularly toward the end of the game) there was finally a sense of normalcy in our lives.

Delco’s finest going to do what they do best.

These lovely, well-spoken gentlemen were just giving a warm Philadelphia welcome to some folks from Baltimore — it wouldn’t have been an official Birds game without it. Side note: I have it on good authority (I know one of these guys from high school) that they both have been temporarily banned from all NFL games, a Philadelphian’s right of passage.

More than likely a relative of yesterday’s heavyweight champs–probably their dad.

Now that we’ve discussed the most important thing that happened yesterday–let’s talk about the game that was apparently going on while all of this was taking place. In yet another game filled with questionable coaching calls, dropped passes, and created players scoring touchdowns for the Birds (I am almost positive that the Ravens secondary – and everyone else – thought Jason Croom was a cardboard cutout from the stands), they somehow put up a fight against one of the best all-around teams in the NFL, and put themselves in a position to win. In fact, by the way all Philly fans were acting after the game, you would’ve thought they had won. It might have something to do with the fact that all of these degenerates took the Birds with the points (one of the few things Gator got right this weekend) and covered, securing their half gallon of raspberry iced tea from Wawa for the week.

Brewed daily in Kensington

With all of that said, while I am happy that the pandemic has ended and life is returning to the way it was before, I wish it didn’t have to come at the expense of the Eagles’ receivers. I am beginning to think that the Birds’ pass droppers have sold their hands to the devil, in exchange for the cure to the virus. It’s the only explanation that makes sense as to why every single Philadelphia Eagles wide-receiver has lost the ability to catch a ball. The only way they can even score now is by having the running back fumble the ball into the end zone and literally hand them a touchdown (Yes, that was JJ Arcega-Whiteside’s first, and probably his only, touchdown of his career, and yes, this is now his second year in the league after being drafted in the second round).

Philadelphia Eagles’ General Dumbass, Howie Roseman.

Thanks, Howie. Keep up the good work.

Go Birds.

***Just a reminder that the pandemic is NOT actually over. Please continue wearing a mask!

Yesterday NFL on CBS reported that there’s only one wide receiver in the league who has brought in a perfect passer rating this season, and it’s not one of the usual suspects.

From Stone-hands To Stardom: The Nelson Agholor Redemption Story

Nelson Agholor, most famously known for making Carson Wentz look like an idiot in Philadelphia, is on top of the football world as the NFL’s lone “perfect” wide-out. If this man isn’t already on your fantasy roster, then he better be by the time you’re finished reading this. With that said, Nelson wasn’t always this godly figure that you see before you today. He comes from humble beginnings in the NFL–starting with the day he entered the league.

After being drafted 20th overall (which is still absolutely mind-blowing to me) out of the University of Southern California by former Eagles head coach, Chip Jelly, Nelson quickly developed a bad reputation as a pass dropper. In 2015 he converted on only 23 of 44 targets, and then 36 of 69 (nice) the following year–resulting in a subpar 52% completion percentage. Eagles fans were already sick of him, and the bust label had been stamped on his forehead after just two seasons.

Nelson helps others boost tires off of parked cars in his spare time.

2017 brought a fresh start for Nelson when he changed numbers from 17 to lucky 13, after the Eagles signed Alshon Jeffrey to an incredibly modest and reasonable four-year contract that hasn’t come back to bite the Eagles whatsoever. Apparently Nelson knew ahead of time not to get on Alshon’s bad side (Carson could’ve used that memo), so he took the proactive measure of giving him the number he had worn in Chicago. Nelson went on to have the best year of his career, catching 65% of the balls thrown his way and a career-best 8 touchdowns. He capped it off by playing a pivotal role in the Birds’ improbable Super Bowl run with clutch catches down the stretch, en route to Philadelphia’s first title. It appeared all was forgiven, and the curse of the brick hands had been broken–Nellie was on top of the world.

41-33.

As we know, all good things must come to an end. Unfortunately his glory in Philly was short-lived. Agholor regressed over the next two seasons, once again dropping passes left and right, and being a regular addition to the injury report. Nelson left a bad taste in the mouths of Birds fans everywhere when he dropped what would’ve been a game-winning touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons last season.

Do not invite Nelson to assist you in a fire rescue.

That was one of the last memories we Philadelphians have of Nellie, as he faded off into the abyss, only to resurface in Las Vegas for the Raiders (to be honest with you, I had no idea he was even on an NFL roster until today) where he is once again king of the world as Mr. Perfect.

As Nelson reigns supreme, it leads me to this thought–is Nelson Agholor now a candidate for the Hall of Fame? Never too soon to ask. A guy who came from the bottom and fought his way to becoming a key player on a legendary championship team, an internet sensation, and now being labeled as the NFL’s only perfect receiver–a story of triumph and redemption. Sounds like a first-ballot HOFamer if you ask me.

Nelson’s hands are the foundation of this hallowed hall (literally).

Fail to shake hands once, shame on me. But fail to shake hands twice, shame on you!

Last night B.D. Nick Foles and the Chicago Bears took down Tom Brady and the Bucs, 20-19 (the under was a lock… thanks, Gator!). It was a sloppy game, filled with familiar faces squaring off once again in Foles and Brady. What was most familiar of all, however, was the image of Tom Brady running off of the field after taking the L without shaking his opposing QB’s hand (or in Nick’s case–his monster dong).

Nick looks like he lost his prom date as soon as they walked in the door.

In case you guys don’t recall, Mr. Brady also did not shake hands with BDN after Super Bowl 52, when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Pats 41-33 (Go Birds).

Idiot

What is it about Nick Foles that Tom can’t swallow?

Is it just for the simple fact that he’s a poor sport and can’t handle that Nick took a Lombardi Trophy from him? Maybe Tom’s son thinks Nick is a better father and/or kisser? Or maybe it’s literally Nick’s tree trunk between his legs?

Nice.

I’m sure Tom will use the COVID-19 excuse if asked about this. He’ll probably say the TB12 method does not include handshakes in his diet. The only thing about that is, Tom was seen making out with Justin Herbert after the game last week against the Chargers… so something’s not adding up. Let’s see if Tom keeps it consistent next week when he faces off against a newly single Aaron Rodgers.

Tom being a patronizing POS shaking hands during a game that doesn’t count. Nick sees right through his BS.

Will we ever see this touching spectacle again? Probably not. Only time will tell, though. Hopefully these two can meet in the playoffs and Tom will have a THIRD chance at romance.

Until then– Go Birds.

Just like reminding everyone what happened on February 4, 2018.

Happy National Coaches Day! Now go run some laps!

Today is the day we come together to honor coaches all around the country, from tee-ball coaches all the way up to the professional ranks. Let’s take a look at some of the more notable coaches, both past and present.

The Good

Bill Belichick

Bill housing a chicken bacon ranch on a 12″ Italian herbs and spices roll.

There’s not much to say about The Sleeveless Assassin that you don’t already know. I mean, this guy wakes up and pisses excellence. Bill became the New England Patriots’ head coach at the turn of the century, and since then he has produced 6 championships, 9 Super Bowl appearances (hahahaha you lost to that IDIOT Eli twice… oh and Go Birds, 41-33!), 3-time AP NFL Coach of the Year, and over 300 wins. He is the best coach in the sport that it is hardest to beat – effectively making him the best coach in sports history, IMHO. He’s already a legend, and he hasn’t even retired yet.

Phil Jackson

Phil loved going to Miami for some weird reason.

This man is an 11-time NBA champion as a head coach (6 with the Bulls, 5 with the Lakers). He had the privilege of coaching three of the greatest players ever in MJ, Kobe and Shaq. Now some would say anyone could coach those guys and have success, but as we learned from The Last Dance, managing all of those different personalities on the Bulls was an incredible task, not to mention having to work for someone you hate (Jerry Krause), all while leading them to six titles. The Kobe and Shaq beef was no secret either, and both of their egos were larger than Shaq’s leg room in his Buick. As a coach and a person, he understood how the mind worked and how to blend clashing personalities when no one else could. He is the best coach in NBA history and there is no argument that can say otherwise (sorry Red Auerbach, but I could’ve coached Bill Russell to a million championships back in the day too).

Scotty Bowman

Riding off into the sunset with Lord Stanley.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about hockey history, but when I did some research on the top NHL coaches of all time, this guy was the clear #1. Scotty has the most impressive coaching resume I have ever seen. When he was 34-years-old, he took over as a first time head coach for the St. Louis Blues in their first year of existence, and took them to the finals that year and the following two after that. From there he went on to coach 27 more seasons in the NHL for four different teams (Montreal, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Detroit), winning 9 Stanley Cups in 13 appearances, along with an Olympic Gold Medal for Team Canada in 1976. To cap off his illustrious career in 2002, he announced his retirement during the Cup presentation by putting on a pair of his old skates and doing one last lap with Lord Stanley’s Cup.

The Back

Mike McCarthy

Mike, along with everyone else, in shock that he was given another job.

Mike McCarthy is best known for wasting Aaron Rodgers’ prime. Early on in his tenure with the Packers he won a Super Bowl, but as time wore on, his welcome wore out. One mediocre season after another lead to him being fired in 2018. He didn’t get another job offer immediately and seemingly faded out. I honestly forgot all about him up until this past off-season when the General of the Clownboys, Jerry Jones, hired him to replace Jason Garrett. As expected, Mike is currently coaching the Cowboys to a 1-3 record in the worst division in NFL history. Like most Americans, there is nothing I love more than their misery.

Doc Rivers

Yes, Doc, watching Ben refuse to shoot is what insanity feels like

As Gator Flint so eloquently informed you all last week, the Sixers have finally hired a real head coach–something us Philadelphia fans haven’t seen since the days of AI skipping practice to go spend $10,000+ at TGI Friday’s on City Ave. While Doc does bring a big name, a big resume, and the ability to attract big time players, he also brings baggage. Doc let his daughter date Playoff P, who wound up cheating on her with a stripper who ended up getting pregnant. Is this the reason the Clippers got bounced early? Maybe. Or it could be the brick Paul threw off the side of the backboard?

It’s probably the latter, but the point is this, Doc let drama affect his team and we all know how prone the Sixers are to drama. I wish Doc nothing but the best though, especially as a Philly fan. I am looking forward to making history with him yet again, blowing another 3-1 lead in the playoffs.

The Ugly

Maury Wills

It was always 4:20 on Maury’s watch

Not to be confused with Maury Povich, Maury Wills was just straight up wild. I’m not even going to do his story justice, so I’ll just let Hardball Times summarize it…

“After an initial period when he failed to discipline openly insubordinate players, the skipper attempted to run spring training in a manner more familiar to boot camp, with predictable results.

Of course, part of Wills’ problems in spring training might have been that he decided being a major league manager was too easy. To attempt to make things more difficult for himself, Wills developed a cocaine problem.

The coke habit might have had something to do with a spring training game Wills left in the sixth inning without telling anyone why. Wills also developed a habit of announcing he had roles planned for players who were no longer on the Mariners’ roster.

He also made pronouncements about players, batting order, what position players would occupy and the like, only to go back on them, sometimes within a day of the original announcement. “

Bobby Knight

Bobby not understanding the proper way to call a timeout.

It’s really a shame I have to put this guy in The Ugly section. I mean — he is ugly, BUT he actually had a great basketball mind. Coach K credits Knight as being one of his biggest mentors, which speaks volumes coming from one of the greatest coaches in history (not great enough for this list because I hate Dook). Unfortunately, however, for Bob’s Big Boy his people skills were slightly slacking. This might be news to you, but Bobby was known for having a temper and also for being physically abusive to players and school property (see: the innocent chair pictured above). While coaching Indiana and Texas Tech it was reported that he slapped multiple players and threw basketballs at them. Bobby has 3 National Championships, 5 Final Four appearances, and over 900 wins — but the first thing he’s remembered for is throwing chairs and not getting dubs.

Bill O’Butthole

He may be mediocre, but at least he can blow his nose and wipe his a** at the same time

A picture is worth a thousand words. In Bill’s case, his just has an a**hole on his face. There are absolutely worse coaches in sports history than this guy, but I just wanted to put the cherry on top of the amazing week he has had. Much like Jeff Fischer, he is the epitome of average. Along with that, Bill is just another shining example of how you shouldn’t get plastic surgery done on your chin (and also another Bill Belichick assistant that went on to fail as a head coach). BOL (best of luck) in finding another coaching gig–you’re going to need it.

And with that, I wish you all a Happy National Coaches’ Day!

Please celebrate responsibly.
