The only man who can get Derrick Henry to publicly clap back online would be Paul Kuharsky. And he accomplished that feat last week. But is he entirely wrong with his take? PEOPLE ARE ASKING! And we take time to answer. What do you think? Does Paul Kuharsky have a point?

If you remember last week, after the AFC Championship, we set out to find the random guy in the Titans jersey at the Chiefs-Ravens AFC Championship. Well, it took some hunting. And some help. But we finally found the guy… and sat him down to ask the most pressing questions. Step aside, 30 for 30. Korked Bats is here with the new greatest sports docuseries. My parents must be so proud my journalism degree is finally paying off.

Let me start this by saying I am completely against wearing jerseys of a team to a games they’re not playing in. To me, it’s an incredibly douchey move. You don’t need to show your allegiance to a team who’s not even playing in the game you’re at. It’s like rocking a Great Gatsby costume to an 80s party. Just wear regular clothes if you’re not a fan of either team.

Can you sense the however coming? Because here it comes…

However…

The exception to the rule is always wearing a Derrick Henry jersey. Just like this legend did.

And we’re not just saying that because we are The #1 Derrick Henry Fan Site On The Internet™. Ok, yes we are. But still. We love this dude and respect his fit in fairly hostile environment. Especially considering most people agree Derrick Henry is a better running back than Lamar Jackson.

Now a lot of Titans fans are disowning this guy for the sake of him clapping after a good play for the Ravens. “nO tRuE tITaNs faN wOUld eVeR rOot fOr thE RaVEnS!” Which, sure, isn’t wrong. But the Chiefs also suck big time too, so I’m willing to at least hear this guy out. I really wanna know his story’s Which is why we want to find him.

So if you know any Titans fans in Baltimore or hell, know anyone in Baltimore, reach out to them. Help us out here. It’s going to take a team effort. He is our new Carmen Sandiego. Where in the world is he? So please, ask around. Share this blog. Share our social posts about him. Do whatever it takes. I’ve seen Don’t F With Cats. The internet can do literally anything if we work together. So let’s do this. Let’s find this man so we can talk to him, get his story, and maybe send him a shirt.

And if you’re reading this, and you yourself just so happened to rock a King Henry jersey and an orange hat to an AFC Championship Game with the Ravens playing the Chiefs, then please hit us up:

korkedbats@gmail.com

We’ll also accept any tips or leads you may have. We want to find this guy.

30 years ago today, one of the greatest human beings to ever touch a football came sliding out of a womb that I can only imagine was the size of Mammoth Cave. That was the first hole Derrick Lamar Henry Jr. ever hit. And now, 30 years later he has an entire comedic sports blog that calls itself The #1 Derrick Henry Fan Site On The Internet™, where, for years, we have churned out so much Derrick Henry content. Including countless breakdowns. So to honor his birthday, in what could be his last birthday as a Tennessee Titan (we hope not), we decided to collect all of those breakdowns into one blog.

So look, with you being back at work this week and it being so cold outside. You might as well procrastinate and watch some of these. Things are slow anyway. Knock out the last few hours at your desk job by watching Derrick Henry at his. Watch him piss all over defenders (metaphorically of course) and mark them as his territory. It would be disrespectful not to. And he deserves your respect and time.

BREAKDOWNS

(in chronological order of creation)

BONUS CONTENT

Here’s a song (and its remix) that we wrote about Derrick Henry! Bump this at your next tailgate!

And a road trip we took earlier this season to see the King play in person.

What did I just watch? No seriously. I’m legitimately asking because I have no idea. My brain is in a fog right now. I haven’t seen a 4 touchdown performance from a Titans quarterback since Ryan Timothy Tannehill III played against the Texans in Week 18 in 2021. Furthermore, I haven’t seen a team in Titans threads score more than 27 points in a game since that same game. Then again, since they were rocking Oilers gamers today, I guess I still haven’t seen a team in Titans threads score more than 27 points in a game since 2021. So I’m serious when I ask: what is this?!

I can’t tell you what it is, but I can sure as hell tell you how it feels. Freaking fantastic. Like getting the bike you asked for on Christmas morning. Then you immediately take it outside and ride it all day until the sun goes down and your mon makes you come inside. All I wanna do is ride it some more.

What a much welcome change of pace to a Titans season that felt like it was circling a drain. It’s amazing how one player’s performance can breathe new life into a fan base and an entire franchise. It shouldn’t be a surprise for Titans fans though. I’m not going to be one of those fans with revisionist’s history and say I’ve never felt this way. We got this same feeling in 2019 when the team started 2-4 and had a guy named Ryan Tannehill take over. Hell, we felt this same way in Week 1 of 2016 when Marcus Mariota threw 4 tuddies in his NFL debut. Must be something about wearing the #8 for the Titans? And I’m sure we’ll feel this way again when the next Titans quarterback takes over. Because I’m sure a ton of quarterbacks have thrown four tuddies in their debuts. Like *checks notes* oh dammit… only Mariota and Fran freaking Tarkentun have thrown 4 tuddies in their NFL debuts.

Ok, well, so what? I’m not going to overreact. It was one game and well, the Falcons have a pretty bad defense, right? In fact, they have the *checks notes* oh dammit… the TENTH best pass defense in the league? Crap. Well, I’m sure it’s just their passing defense. Their scoring defense is only ranked *checks notes* oh dammit… NINTH?! Well, maybe their overall defense sucks. They’re only ranked *checks notes* oh dammmmmit… THIRD?! Ok, this whole “not overreacting” thing is gonna be harder than I thought.

I guess I just don’t want to get my hopes up in a week, as a Titans fan, that felt really dark. Not just with the trade of Kevin Byard, but with the endless rumors of the seemingly inevitable move of Derrick Henry. Fortunatly, however, those appeared to be just that: rumors. (Hopefully.) But speaking of the King, I’m sure he had a reasonable take on Levis’s debut, since he always remains even keeled about everything and *checks notes*

“He was ballin’, huh,” Titans running back Derrick Henry said. “He was playing out of his mind. It was exciting how it came together with him handling the offense and us being able to finish drives and makes some plays.”

via ESPN.com

Oh dammit. Even the King was impressed.

Well, crap. Look, I’m trying my hardest not to freak out over one week of good quarterback play. ESPECIALLY from a rookie. I don’t want to be that fan who overreacts to Week 1 or thinks Tyson Bagent is the second coming of Kurt Warner. Was I impressed? Of course. I set the bar extremely low for him in his debut because I didn’t want to put unreachable expectations on him, and yet he still went out and exceeded those unreachable expectations I could’ve set. And it wasn’t just the four bombs that he chucked. It was the accuracy of his throws, the consistency, and the confidence he exuded. It was a real David after dentist performance because it left me asking, “is this real life?!”

Now look, There’s still a ton of football left. He will make rookie mistakes and be faced with much more challenging situations than the one he faced on Sunday. For example, a road game against a tough Steelers defense that will be even harder than the Falcons because they have the *checks notes* oh dammit… EIGHTEENTH ranked pass defense in the league. Well, crap.

Guess we should just go ahead and overreact. Let’s freaking ride.

It’s BILLIE JEANS SZN.

Dear Tennessee Titans,

My second daughter’s due date is today and my wife is being induced tomorrow. I have been an emotional wreck this week. And it has nothing to do with my soon-to-be-born daughter. Please do not trade Derrick Lamar Henry Jr. I have been able to confirm that there are some within the building who regularly read and consume Korked Bats. So if you are one of those people currently reading this within the walls of St. Thomas Sports Park up there near Metrocenter, please pass word that we are not asking you. We are begging you. Are we saying this solely because we are The #1 Derrick Henry Fan Site On The Internet™? Not entirely. Because wherever King Henry goes, so goes Korked Bats. Would it suck having to make pro-Ravens content? I mean we’ve done it before.

But, yes.

It would.

Now look, would trading him be the best football move? I don’t know. I don’t get paid to think about that crap. But what I can tell you is he’s still the best player on your team and can do damage if he even has a semblance of an offensive line up front. Hell, just last year he popped off for 1,500+ yards (good for 2nd in the NFL) in only 16 games behind an offensive line that employed Dennis Daley at it’s most important position. Clearly, he doesn’t require much to still be great. And he’s one of few remaining bright spots on this team.

It’s no state secret that there is not much hope left for this season. The only quarterback with any experience is injured, and the few times he’s not, he’s in the process of getting injured because this offensive line stops fewer humans than captcha codes. Deandre Hopkins has been fun, but those are only on the handful of plays when our quarterback isn’t lying on his back. And well, Nick Folk has been the only consistent ray of sunshine on this dark elephant graveyard of a season.

Really, as a Titans fan, the only hope I have for joy is the potential of Derrick Henry either a.) breaking off a 50, 60 or 70+ yard run. Or 2.) him using his fist as a taser, and jolting grown men all over a football field.

I know football is a business. I recognize that you have to take emotions out of it. But for once in your franchises existence, can you just mix in a little emotion with this decision? I don’t want to see Eddie George in a Cowboys jersey, and I certainly don’t want to Steve McNair in a Ravens gamer. Not again. This time, just let Derrick Henry retire a Titan.

If you want to write me off as dumb or irrational, first off, get in line behind my wife. Second, that’s fine. I am admittedly being dumb AND irrational. But it’s not like keeping Derrick Henry on this 53-man roster will be detrimental to it. He’s still really good. And he’s still a leader in that locker room vocally, emotionally, and by example. Plus, whatever you get in return will never give you the return that 22 has and still can. Not another player, and certainly not a lottery ticket disguised as a draft pick.

So look, please keep Derrick in two-toned blue. If he goes, so will my joy. And I don’t want to cry in that hospital room more than once.

Thank you,

Austin

former PSL holder, Section 117, Row S, Seats 9 & 10

P.S. With all that said, let’s relive some of our favorite Derrick Henry moments.

The thing about locomotives is that they’re not known for their quick starts. They’re not getting 0 to 60 in just a few seconds. It takes time to build that power. But when they do, buddy, you better look out.

This is the story of Derrick Henry. Always has been. Always will be.

Today against the Cincinnati Bengals, Derrick Henry woke up like the Undertaker and started snatching souls and pumping blood to the nether regions of every Titans fan with a heartbeat. We got a BONER ALERT on the ground…

And one through the air.

That’s the thing about Kings. They do King things. Like a couple of tuddies to go along with 122 ground yards. And no one enjoys it more than Korked Bats, The #1 Derrick Henry Fan Site on the Internet™, and the cool kids who follow.

A lot of people, including the FOX broadcaster, like to call this “vintage” King. But that would imply that Derrick ever went away. This is a guy who racked up 1,500+ rushing yards (good for 2nd in the NFL) in only 16 games last season behind an offensive line that was just that, offensive. The King has always remained the King. If anything, this was vintage run blocking by the big men up front. Is it a sign of more to come? Or was it just the fact that the Bengals have an awful run defense? Probably both, but hopefully more of the former. Regardless, BONER ALERTS are back.

What’s the one thing you should always hit on when talking on Chicago sports talk radio? Bears, right? Maybe Bulls. Right now maybe Sox or Cubs? Or – wait – how about early settlers who ventured out to sea in hopes of discovering new lands?

As part of this neverending Kim Mulkey jacket saga, my friends (and absolute legends) Laurence Holmes and Leila Rahimi asked me to hop on their show with them this afternoon. I was slotted right in between their interviews with Ian Happ and skipper David Ross. Just three guys who plan on being at Wrigley on Saturday. I’m sure your diehard “STICK TO SPORTS!” listeners loved hearing a segment of a country music radio host talking about wearing a couture runway jacket to a Cubs game. But that’s what I love about Bernstein and Holmes’ show. They go where the wind blows. And speaking of wind blowing, that leads me to the point of this blog. Because any sports talk radio hosts who will allow an in-studio guest to make subtle references to early world explorers are the kind of sports talk radio hosts I love. There’s no BIG RAZZ here. They seamlessly let me get away with dropping a nod to mine, and I assume most people’s, Spanish explorer and conquistador who was involved in expeditions in Nicaragua and the Yucatan Peninsula. We don’t talk about him enough frankly. On top of that, Leila firing back with a Juan Ponce de Leon blast. Dammit, I should’ve known she’d tag back with the Spanish explorer and conquistador known for leading the first official European expedition to Florida. Hat tip to you, Leila. Or I guess, metal armored helmet tip to you.

But then to cap it all off, Holmes worked in a Derrick Henry drop just because he knew it would jazz me up.

For anyone knew to Korked Bats, we are The #1 Derrick Henry Fan Site On The Internet™, so if you bring up the king, we will bite EVERY. TIME. And I did today.

Look… PEOPLE ARE ASKING.

You can listen to the full segment where on top of the jacket saga, we talk Jim Rome, NIL, country music, Pac-Man, 16-inch softball, and a crap ton of other random topics. Shout out to Laurence and Leila for having me on. Two of my favorite folks who do tremendous work.
