The Korked Bats DO BEERS Stadium Roadie is back, and we need your help!

Each year, we’ve been adding to our map to try and get a beer pic from every professional baseball stadium in the country. Here are the locations we have so far:

From spring training to the minor leagues to even that Costco that the Texas Rangers now play in. So if you do beers at a ball game, snap a pic and send it to us at @KORKEDBEERS.

And go ahead and follow too, if you want. Your call.

We already kicked off 2023 with a beer pic from a stadium that – surprisingly – took us a while to get: Wrigley Field. But the Friendly Confines are already checked off the list. And now we just need Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati to round out the entire NL Central. So do beers and help us out this summer, you drunks!

Forget ice cream and movies … Joe Judge is getting over his New York Giants breakup with beer and pizza — and a whole hell of a lot of it!!! The former G-Men head coach — who was canned on Tuesday following two abysmal seasons with the team — ordered a boatload of ‘za and suds to his New Jersey home on Wednesday, presumably to help drown out his newfound sorrows. Pictures, obtained by TMZ Sports, show the newly unemployed 40-year-old had nine boxes of pizza as well as several cases of Michelob Ultra and Coors Light delivered to his place. We’re also told Judge had flowers arrive on his doorstep as well.

Ok, I think I now believe him that former players called him wanting to join his team’s culture. Look at these pics (courtesy of TMZ)…

Does this guy know how to party or what Gif

This also explains that 3rd and 9 quarterback sneak call. My man was probably looking to get fired, just for the excuse to throw a rager like this. Maybe the Giants should re-hire him? Sure, he’s a bad head coach. But how can you not respect how he responds in the face of adversity? And as a man who’s been fired multiple times, I’d argue there are few beers better than the recently laid off beer. It trickles down the gullet like the finest of wines. You know why? Because when your job was flushed down the toilet, so was your responsibility. You don’t have to stop at just one on a school night. You can have three, maybe five, or hell, in Joe’s case, seventeen… cases. And if you mix in some pizza into that equation, you’re basically throwing yourself an adult birthday party. Only thing missing is the bounce house… which I wouldn’t be surprised if he had delivered through the back.

Look, if women can drown their breakup sorrows in Ben & Jerry’s and wine, why can’t football coaches overcome their pink slips with some pizza and beer? Joe Judge, I’ll be honest, I didn’t respect you at all when you were coaching the New York Football Giants, but I respect the hell out of you now. Party on, Joe.

P.S. Joe, it’s well past time to take down the Christmas decorations. We’re almost halfway through January. Professional football coach or not, there is no excuse for that.

via Vegas Insider, as if the logo on the graphic didn’t already give that away.

College football playoff, schmollege football schmlayoff. Who cares about that dumb ass tournament? These right here are the most important rankings. Mainly because it didn’t require a bunch of stiffs on a selection committee to choose these rankings. All it took was some beers, some whiskeys, and maybe some Zimas. (Are Zima’s still around?) Anyway, these rankings come via Vegas Insider and you can’t argue with this. It’s science. Here are a few observations:

I’m actually not surprised Nebraska tops this list. If your college football team lost 8 conference games by one score and finished with a score differential of 0, you’d probably drink 4.5 drinks per game too. Go Big Red (Stripe).

Wisconsin coming in at #3 feels like the biggest upset here. Wisco perpetually being one of the top party schools in America paired with the fact that it’s always cold paired with the fact that their team was kind of a buzzkill this year (pun only slightly intended) just makes it feel like they should’ve been ranked higher. This would be like Bama not making the playoff. Just feels weird.

USC earned that #6 ranking based solely on their consumption of boxed wine.

Kansas football fans coming in at 7th is a shocker, just solely based on the fact that I’m surprised three people could drink that much.

Alabama sits at ninth which is nice to not see them at the top of a ranking for once.

Also, Duke? Really? 11th? In the entire country? Does their library serve booze?

I have to imagine Michigan was originally unranked, but after the champagne showers from beating Ohio State upped their average.

I don’t know what the rankings were in previous years, but I have to imagine Texas rose in the rankings after hiring Steve Sarkisian. Which will probably be the only rankings he helps Texas climb.

A few notable omissions: Where the hell are our Tennessee Vols fans? A lot of Korked Bats cool kids are VFL’s and we know damn well they drink more than most in the country. Unless they’re only counting this year, in which case, I guess it makes sense, considering most of the drinks were thrown onto the field of play. But the Vols still lead the country in mustard consumption.

How is Ohio State not listed? Cold weather fan base, just lost to Michigan, could potentially drink with their former head coach and sit on his lap.

Maybe I’m just assuming that the biggest party schools would all be listed here, but where the hell is Arizona State? Pretty sure those people have more alcohol in their bodies than blood.

Opening Day is here (at limited capacity – but hey, we’ll take what we can get right now), which means fans will be back at stadiums. This means, we actually have a shot at pulling off our goal this year.

We want a beer pic from every baseball stadium in the country.

Last year we started this project, and well, it was kind of dumb to do in a year where a global pandemic ravished the earth. So we figured we’d try again this year as more and more people get vaxed and more and more stadiums open up.

So if you hit up a game this year (or if you have in the past and still have the photo), send it to us, and help put a pin on the map with your beer pic.

Either tweet or DM it to @korkedbeers on Twitter or Instagram.

Both MLB and MiLB stadiums count, and below is an animated GIF and list of all of the stadiums we have so far:

Dodger Stadium (Dodgers)

Camelback Ranch (Dodgers/White Sox)

Busch Stadium (Cardinals)

Guaranteed Rate Field (White Sox)

American Family Field (Brewers)

Victory Field (Indianapolis Indians)

Truist Park (Braves)

First Horizon Park (Nashville Sounds)

Smokies Stadium (Tennessee Smokies)

PNC Park (Pittsburgh Pirates)

Progressive Field (Indians)

Fenway Park (Red Sox)

Here are a few examples:

This one counts because the beer is in frame.

This thing is pretty self-explanatory. A ranking of how much each team’s fan bases drinks per game, with an additional note on how much they spend per game. Let’s break this down by select teams…

Atlanta Braves

C’mon, Braves. I love you, but I’m a little disappointed. I know finishing second is kinda your thing, but with consuming alcohol?? You literally have Waffle Houses in your stadium. And we all know you’re not allowed to eat at a Waffle House outside of breakfast hours without being hammered. You better correct that this year and win it all… which you very well might do on the field too.

St. Louis Cardinals

If there’s one thing St. Louis knows more than baseball, it’s beer. How on earth did they finish fifth from the bottom? Also, only $28 on average spent on alcohol?? Did they buy one beer? I’ve been to Busch. And I’ve been in debt ever since. I never thought I’d say this, but you need to step your beer game up, St. Louis. You’re down there hovering around with the California teams. And you know they don’t drink because of gluten and stuff. I’m not mad, just disappointed. Nolan Arenado won’t be able to fix this problem.

Chicago White Sox

They actually used to be ranked 25th on this list, but then they hired Tony La Russa.

Milwaukee Brewers

How do you finish tenth in this ranking when your team name is literally the Brewers?? Ya know, ever since you took Miller out of your stadium’s name, you guys have really changed. You’ve become really American Family friendly.

Colorado Rockies

At least one beer stadium (or former beer stadium) is holding up their namesake and finishing in the top 6. Although, after the offseason we just witnessed, they may skyrocket up the charts this season.

I’m really sorry, Rockies fans. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Chicago Cubs

Look, I know I’m kinda zoning in on the midwestern darlings of Major League Baseball, but that’s only because I expected more out of you guys. I don’t expect high alcohol intake from either coast. But the heart of the country? You guys should be drinking laps around the rest of the league. Especially, you Cubs! What happened to the Bleacher Bums? Have they been gentrified along with the rest of Wrigleyville?

Los Angeles Dodgers

Look, I get it. Dodger Stadium is a stone’s throw (or a former Yasiel Puig miss-his-cutoff-man throw) away from Hollywood, and image is everything in that city. I mean, heaven forbid you drink a carb. But 2.7 drinks per game? People get more liquored up during communion. You’re the world champs. Start drinking like it.

Miami Marlins

They average 3.3 drinks per game. That means their fan buys 3.3 drinks.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Shoutout to A.D. and his Buccos. Finishing middle of the pack for this current iteration of the Pirates should feel like a huge win. I just find it ironic that their fans spend more on beer per game than their front office does on players.

Philadelphia Phillies

They finished last only because they do all of their drinking in the parking lot before the game.

It's about time.

There will be more than just fizz when Coca-Cola launches the alcoholic version of its Topo Chico sparkling water along with beer giant Molson Coors Beverage in the United States. It will be the beverage giant’s first alcoholic drink in the country.

The launch, planned for next year, will help Coca-Cola push further into alcoholic drinks and expand its market beyond Latin America and Japan, where it sells Lemon-Do drink.

Coca-Cola bought the Topo Chico brand in 2017 from its second-largest bottling partner in Latin America, Arca Continental.

For Molson Coors, the launch is expected to strengthen its portfolio of low-alcohol spirits, including hard seltzers, which have seen surging demand.

Molson Coors said on Tuesday that it would roll out Topo Chico in the first half of 2021, its third hard seltzer to hit the shelves. The low-calorie drink will compete with the popular White Claw beverage as well as other hard seltzers from companies, including Anheuser Busch Inbev.

via New York Post

Why wait?

2020 has obviously been a hell hole. I’m not particularly well-versed in hell holes, but I can assure you, we’re currently living in one. From this global pandemic, to popular celebrities like Wilford Brimley dying, to the Titans getting COVID, this year couldn’t be worse. (Lol, jk, in case anyone with real power is reading this blog.) The year has turned so bad, it’s clearly turned two American staples to start serving alcohol. The first was Cracker Barrel, and now, we’ve got the All-American classic… Coca-Cola.

In the words of the great John McClane, “Welcome to the party, pal!” Feels like seltzers are the new podcasts. Everyone has one. And now that Coca-Cola has entered the ring, it only makes that theory even more true. This is like Apple getting into the cell phone business back in the day. You may think it’s crazy, but anyone with that much power entering any ring surely will never fail. Except maybe this.

Or this.

And oh yeah, this.

But after a year like this, I have a feeling any idea with alcohol infused could not fail if it wanted to. Plus, this new alcoholic drink will bring a whole new level of anger to the responses of the question, “Is Pepsi ok?” NO! I WANT THAT TOPO CHICO! AND I WANT IT NOW!

DO BEERS, COKE!

Until now. Cracker Barrel is doing a slow roll out of alcohol at their locations. Meaning... MIMOSAS AT THE BARREL!

The post “Cracker Barrel Now Serving Alcohol” is The Most Needed Headline of 2020 appeared first on Korked Bats.

]]>

SOURCE – The Dickson Cracker Barrel was approved for an on-premises beer permit by the city beer board Monday night as part of the Middle Tennessee-based restaurant chain’s test of offering alcoholic beverages.

According to the company media relations team, the Dickson Cracker Barrel Old Country Store will be the 20th store in the chain to test out alcoholic beverages, which will include beer, wine and orange and strawberry mimosas.

The Dickson Beer Board approved the beer permit by 7-0-1 vote with Councilman Dwight Haynes abstaining.

They say the night is always darkest before the dawn, and how true that clearly is. Except in this dawn, we can throw back mimosas with our biscuits, gravy, and golf-tee-triangle-game things.

Now, this is only a slow roll out (this Dickson, TN store is only the 20th) but it looks to be gaining a lot of momentum. And by a lot, I mean nearly unanimous. Has The Dickson Beer Board ever approved anything as widely as they did this with 7-0-1 vote? I can’t imagine they did.

If you’re unfamiliar with what Cracker Barrel is, that’s on you. They’ve got 660 locations in 45 states. Just look for the only restaurant with no less than 65 empty rocking chairs out front. Look, I love CB, but having that much seating out front is a little too presumptuous as to how many people they think will be waiting for their chicken and dumplins. Don’t get me wrong, they’re delicious, but most people are inside getting a hearty chuckle out of the sayings on the novelty tee’s, trying to keep their kids from pressing the button on that electronic singing bass again.

Real talk: Is Cracker Barrel the hottest new brunch spot in every town? I think so. Give me bottomless mimosas while I take 5-year-old niece to school in oversized checkers. A Bloody Mary with pecan pancakes? Sounds disgusting, but I’m game to try anything once. The point is, this was needed. Hell, after 2020, every restaurant should be serving alcohol. McDonald’s. Jimmy John’s. Sonic… ok, maybe not Sonic for obvious reasons. But you catch my drift. I’m a huge Waffle House guy. Drunks are already filling those red-padded seats. Might as well monopolize the night. All-in-one stop shopping.

All this to say… well, done Cracker Barrel. This move only makes sense. Not just for the current state of the country/world, but because walking through that gift shop area already makes you feel like you’re six mimosas deep.

This is what you see when you’re drunk.

Think that can can’t get any more perfect? What if I told you there was beer inside?

Incredible. I know this isn’t a WE DOIN’ BEERS?! post and I’m certainly no Professor Grit, but I’m going to go ahead and give that can a 10/10. Perfect score. Not just for rocking the beauty of those awesome Houston Astros throwbacks, but because it’s also ripping the ‘Stros for cheating their asses off in 2017.

Of course, since Astros fans appear to be just as awful as their team, they’ve apparently attempted legal action against this brewery.

Imagine your favorite baseball team cheating, admitting to cheating, half-ass apologizing for cheating, and a brewery making fun of your team for cheating, and then you decide to take legal action against them for making fun of the cheating your team admitted to doing. Wouldn’t be me.

Look, Astros fans should take the next 365 days off. Consider it an extended quarantine. Anything you try to do or say to defend your team is only going to make things worse. No one wants to hear it.

Props to Departed Soles Brewery for taking the high road and trying to turn some good out of this.

Who ever gets their hands on one of these, do the damn beer and tweet it at us: @korkedbeers.

Oh, and in case you don’t remember just how awful the Astros were during their “apology” tour, we made this video breaking it all down.
