The Buffalo Bills won big tonight. No one will deny that fact. Josh Allen looks 100% like he’s him. Everyone predicted Buffalo to win the Super Bowl this year, and they looked every bit of the part in Week 1. Even if you’re a Rams fan, you gotta be stoked that football is officially back. It was an awesome night all around.

And then @ESPN tweeted.

I ask this kindly, but what in the absolute hell is that tweet?!

Like, did this tweet get approved by someone before it was thrown up there? This is the Worldwide Leader and they’re tweeting like someone who just started watching sports this year. The Bills “got their shot”?! What in the hell does that even mean? Sure, we all remember the last time we saw the Bills play football. It was an iconic game in the divisional round of the playoffs and ended with the Bills getting screwed by overtime rules. And now they got their shot?? They got their shot against a different team. A different team that’s not even in the same conference. In a regular season game. What do you mean they got their shot? Gah, I wish I had a shot, because I’m way too sober to be having @ESPN show up on my timeline.

Seriously, is it a Disney thing that forces ESPN to hire the dumbest people to run their social media? Don’t get me wrong. I actually like that ESPN’s social media team sucks ass. It makes grassroots blogs like this one seem so much better that we run better socials with no budget while they’ve got mouse ears funding their endeavors. But maybe @ESPN should take @The_Moose21 up on his offer. I’m sure he’d gladly leave his teaching gig, and we’d probably rather read his tweets than whatever first-time sports watcher is currently running things. This isn’t the first time either.

Look, I hate people online who use this phrase, but I’m about to use this phrase. @ESPN, please, for the love of all that is holy, stick to sports.

How in the world did the Tennessee Titans beat the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night without Derrick Henry? Hell, how do they do ANYTHING without Derrick Henry? I know there’s a rumor floating around league circles claiming the franchise has 52 other people on their roster, but I don’t believe it. How?! And I don’t believe this team could’ve ever done anything competent without Derrick Henry being lined up in their backfield. For example, Ryan Tannehill completed a pass last night. Can you believe it? Because I can’t. Sure, he has the third-highest passer rating since taking over as starter in 2019 (behind only Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees – one of which is retired, the other is immunized) but that was all because of Derrick Henry, right? And yeah, since 2019, Tannehill leads the NFL in both 4th quarter comebacks and game-winning drives, but that’s all because of Derrick Henry too, right? Even though late in games Derrick isn’t getting the ball, and many times, isn’t even on the field. I mean, please. You mean to tell me Ryan Tannehill has somehow gotten better since leaving that quarterback whisperer Adam Gase in Miami? No way, Jose! It’s all because he has Derrick Henry in his backfield.

So the fact they won without him makes it all the more head-scratching. It’s almost as if they’re well-coached and have talented players at other positions which helped lead to their #1 AFC seed prior to Sunday. Lol, jk. Yeah right! We all know it was solely because of Derrick Henry.

I mean, the Titans even made tackles, forced turnovers and scored a defensive touchdown without Derrick Henry. Does anyone know how? Because I sure don’t. It’s almost as if this defense being good didn’t rely on #22 at all. Lol, again, yeah right! They clearly had to. I mean, we all know that the Tennessee Titans are nothing without Derrick Henry. We know this because it’s all anyone said since Monday morning of last week when the injury was announced. The Titans were done-cakes the minute Adam Schefter pressed send on that tweet. No way this team could have any success against anyone the rest of the way.

So let’s go ahead and chalk Sunday night up for what it was: a fluke. How else does a Derrick Henry-less Titans team win a game, let alone get off the bus. Derrick Henry is everything for that franchise. He’s their running back, their pass catcher, their pass thrower, their coach, their general manager, their trainer. Hell, Derrick runs payroll for the entire organization. He’s facility security, the color analyst on their radio broadcasts, and the team surgeon who operated on himself. Owner Amy Adams Strunk? Yup, just Derrick in a wig.

Derrick Henry isn’t just a Titan, the Titans are Derrick Henry. And without them, they’re done for. Without question. Plan the visitation, prepare the funeral arrangements, and start arguing over the will. Because the sans-Derrick Henry Tennessee Titans are DEAD.

(aside from the 28-16 drubbing of the previously 7-1 Los Angeles Rams)

]]>

Watch your mouth, Tom Brady. Sheesh.

I’ve spent a lot of time looking into this. Enough time to where, if my wife knew how much time I spent digging, she’d be upset why I didn’t utilize that time for more important things… like still unpacking the boxes in my office. But I can’t help it. I’m locked into this story. I want to know the team Brady was referring to. So with the teaser, paired with this new clip, I’ve been able to conduct a little more narrowing down. Let’s look at the teams in question and see which one’s we think they are.

8. New Orleans Saints

Motherf*cker In Question: Drew Brees

This is the least likely team on the board that Tom was probably referring to. Everyone outside of Atlanta has respect for Drew Brees. Tom included. I don’t think the Saints were ever a serious contender and then even less so once the big birthmark decided to come back. So let’s go ahead and pretend this is the playoffs and eliminate the Saints early.

7. L.A. Chargers

Motherf*cker In Question: nobody

After Phil bolted for the Colts (do you get it?), the Chargers were without a set QB1. Thus why they drafted Justin Herbert. So Brady technically couldn’t have been referring to the Chargers. But probably best for all parties involved. Imagine if the Chargers team doctor stabbed Brady in the lung instead of Tyrod Taylor. Would’ve been the second time we would’ve had to put up with Brady and deflategate.

6. L.A. Rams

Motherf*cker In Question: Jared Goff

This one is possible, sure. Jared Goff has all the qualities and characteristics of a motherf*cker. Not sure how Brady would’ve felt playing for a preteen head coach, so that could play into the “I was never going to go there anyway” line. And it’s very believable to see Brady wanting to do the Rams in free agency just like he did in Super Bowl 36, by stringing them along only to kill them in the final minutes. But he made it seem like the team that passed on him actively chose their current starter over him. And let’s be honest, no one on earth is choosing Jared Goff over Tom Brady. Not even Jared Goff’s mom.

5. Las Vegas Raiders

Motherf*cker In Question: Derek Carr (but also maybe Marcus Mariota)

The Raiders are a possibility, sure, as both Derek Carr and his backup, Marcus Mariota, could make a 5-time Super Bowl MVP very frustrated if a team chose them over him. I could imagine this would make someone refer to them as a motherf*cker too. But it’s important to remember that when it comes to the Raiders, Brady could’ve just been stringing them along because the ball leaving the quarterback’s hands is considered a forward pass even if the quarterback intends not to pass the ball, but instead continues the forward motion to tuck the ball back into his body.

4. Indianapolis Colts

Motherf*cker In Question: Philip Rivers? Probably not, so Jacoby Brissett?

A lot of people like to assume Brady was talking about his former protege, when referring to the motherf*cker, which is why many believe it was the San Francisco 49ers. And that might be true. But what if he was referring to his OTHER protege? Jacoby Brissett anyone? Remember the Colts announced they signed Philip Rivers on the day before or the day after Brady signed with Tampa. So it’s possible, sure. But let’s be real. The Colts were never really in this thing seriously. Brady’s not getting Manning’s sloppy seconds.

3. Chicago Bears

Motherf*cker In Question: Mitchell Trubisky

This team definitely fits the mold of “I was never going to go there anyway.” Because Brady has said before he didn’t want to play in another cold-weather city like New England, and Mitchell Trubisky is often referred to as a “motherf*cker.” So this very well could be the team, but let’s be real. The Bears are to quarterbacks what the L.A. Angles are for superstars. Just complete and utter black holes of talent suckers. Pujols, Josh Hamilton, both Upton brothers, Mike Trout, and now (hopefully not) Shohei Ohtani. And you don’t even want me listing old Bears quarterbacks.

2. San Francisco 49ers

Motherf*cker In Question: Jimmy Garoppolo

This is the front runner for the bunch. Everyone thinks Brady’s talking about Jimmy G. as the M-F’r. I’ll admit, it makes a lot of sense. Brady is from Norther California. He grew up a Niners fan. I’m sure he would’ve loved to finish his career in red and gold.

But this is also too obvious. Brady, in my opinion, is more calculated than that. Now sure, if you slip a few kombuchas in him, he’ll probably loosen up a bit and maybe start to say things he shouldn’t, but I don’t think that’s the case.

1. Tennessee Titans

Motherf*cker In Question: Ryan Tannehill

You can see my reasons as to why I think the Titans are the team he’s referring to.

If you remember, when heading into 2020 free agency, the Titans had to lock up either Ryan Tannehill or Derrick Henry and place the other on the franchise tag, unless they were going to sign another quarterback, like a Tom Brady, in free agency. But almost a full week before Brady signed with the Bucs, the Titans resigned Tannehill to a 4-year, $118 million deal. I have been told on good authority that the Bucs brass really thought Brady was going to Tennessee before the Titans re-signed Tannehill. And as I’ve stated above, Brady really wanted to play in a warm-weather city. Nashville is NOT a warm-weather city, which makes Tennessee fit the “I was never going to go there anyway” line. And there were those rumors that Brady and Gisele were seen at MBA looking at schools. Whether it was true or not, it fits the bill of this theory. Plus, after last year’s COVID practices, we all know how bad MBA kids are keeping their mouths shut.

Look, we all know Brady was extremely pissed after getting bounced from the playoffs, especially by a guy who 1. he’s beaten within the division for the 6 years prior and 2. only put up 72 yards passing in that game. So when a team signs him a week before he decides to go to Tampa, he’s probably even more livid. So to me, the Tennessee Titans make the most sense. Now, obviously, I’m also the biggest Titans homer, so maybe I’m coming at this thing from too close to the two-toned blue, but I’ve also yet to hear a better explanation with the dots better aligning for another team.

Will we ever know for sure? Probably. Brady will turn this into a quick buck after he retires either by doing some sort of lame documentary again or by writing a tell-all book. But for right now, we won’t. So let’s continue to speculate. And if you find out any more tidbits, DM me on Twitter. I really want to stay hard on this case.

I noticed something peculiar while preparing to discuss a very important matter for “Family Lunch” our weekly IG Live show on Korked Bats’ Instagram (You should join us, we have fun.) The topic I was preparing for? Oh, just your classic game of ‘Which NFL Coach Would Win In A Fight?’ Pretty standard discussion for “Family Lunch,” tbh.

Bills coach Sean McDermott screams at refs and Twitter loves it

So as I was analyzing these coaches, watching tape, taking notes, finding facts, and sizing them up, it struck me. We have 3 coaches named Sean currently in the NFL Playoffs. Does the NFL have a Sean problem or do Seans have an NFL problem? Remains to be seen. Sean’s are taking over the NFL.

Rams: Sean McVay's wide-eyed reaction to fumble is now a meme

Quite frankly, the world needs a Sean vs. Sean matchup. Whether it’s Sean McVay vs. Sean Payton in the NFC Championship or Sean McDermott vs. either of the NFC Sean’s in the Super Bowl. Our Sean cup would be overflowing with Sean. And joy.

Sean Payton is moving Saints past NFC Championship no-call, but he hasn't forgotten - The Washington Post

This has to be the first time in NFL history that three Sean’s are in the NFL playoffs. When was the last time we had no Seans? Not to be confused with Knowshon [Moreno]. Geez I cramped up even typing that awful joke. But seriously. THREE SEAN’S! Not Shawn. Not Shaun. Sean!

I’ve been sitting here for the last couple days trying to figure out just where the Steelers went wrong last weekend. Despite the fact that Pouncey snapped the ball over Big Ben’s head with the first play of the game, I finally realized it was because the Steelers don’t have a head coach named Sean. So consider this me dropping a hint to the Steelers brass. We need a Sean in that locker room. I know Austin loves Mike Vrabel coaching the Titans, but given this recent discovery, I’m sure he would be willing to cut off his peen for a Sean Vrabel.

Hell, every locker room needs a Sean. So if you’re reading this, the world, in particular the NFL, needs more Sean’s, please name your kid Sean.

The LA Rams and the Buffalo Bills are clashing this weekend, and all eyes will be on Jalen Ramsey (Rams CB) and Josh Allen (Bills QB). This has been a saga in the making since 2018, when Ramsey (on the Jacksonville Jaguars at the time) gave his opinion on the quarterback in a GQ Q&A after the Bills took Allen with their 1st round pick (7th overall).

I think [Buffalo Bills draft pick Josh] Allen is trash. I don’t care what nobody say. He’s trash. And it’s gonna show too. That’s a stupid draft pick to me. We play them this year, and I’m excited as hell. I hope he’s their starting quarterback. He played at Wyoming. Every time they played a big school—like, they played Iowa State, which is not a big school in my opinion because I went to Florida State, and he threw five interceptions, and they lost by a couple touchdowns or something like that. He never beat a big school.

via GQ

Jalen followed that up a few months later when the Jags and the Bills squared off…

The Bills and all of their trash cans ended up winning that one.

Allen got a shot in several months later when @bigcatcountry tweeted a photo that he signed for a fan that read, “Hey Ramsey…Am I still trash? #BillsMafia.” To which the outspoken cornerback obviously replied, “#YES”.

One thing is for certain, Jalen Ramsey has an obsession with trash. Maybe he was a garbage man in a previous life? Maybe he is the one who inspired the Astros to bang garbage cans? Could his childhood hero be Frank “The Trashman” Reynolds?

Or is Jalen just channeling his inner Adam “Pacman” Jones?

“Oh–there he go right there!”

All that being said, Jo$h has been an absolute animal these first two weeks of the 2020 season, and animals love rummaging through trash–opossums in particular.

I’m not really sure what that has to do with anything but I just wanted to point that out.

Go Birds (please do not lose to the Bungals).

A Breakdown of The Rams New Uniforms https://korkedbats.com/a-breakdown-of-the-rams-new-uniforms/ https://korkedbats.com/a-breakdown-of-the-rams-new-uniforms/#respond Wed, 13 May 2020 20:16:53 +0000 http://korkedbats.flywheelsites.com/?p=22385 Let's take a deeper look at these new Los Angeles Rams uniforms. Why? Because we apparently enjoy inflicting self wounds and pain.

The post A Breakdown of The Rams New Uniforms appeared first on Korked Bats.

]]>
Every new NFL uniform for the 2020 season has been unveiled, which means the Los Angeles Rams have finally unveiled theirs. And in typical LA fashion, they were the last ones to show up.

The season doesn’t start for another few months (if at all), and the Rams are already starting with two MASSIVE L’s. The first came a month or so ago when the Rams dropped their brand new, and much worse, logo. Basically the aftermath of a Chargers logo and Internet Explorer logo one-night stand. The second L came this morning when the Rams unveiled uniforms so bad, Oliver Stone would’ve turned them down for Any Given Sunday.

Obviously, nothing can win on the Internet. Especially Twitter. It’s a cesspool of hate and disapproval. If Mother Teresa had a Twitter account, the Internet would roast her. Even Ellen’s currently getting canceled on Twitter. But these new Rams threads deserve every last bit of it they receive. Calling them atrocious would be a compliment.

They’ve been compared to everything from IKEA logos to Best Buy uniforms, which in case you were wondering aren’t the best things for NFL uniforms to be compared to.

It’s almost as if the Rams sat on their horrific logo release and thought, “How can we embrace that suck and double down on the horrible attention and publicity we got from it?” Well, mission accomplished you bozos.

We decided to take a deeper dive and breakdown these things all the way.

The post Jay Glazer’s Very Big, Legit Big Breaking News Was Neither Very Big, Nor Legit Big appeared first on Korked Bats.

Last night we were hit with this news from Jason Smith about future news from Jay Glazer.

Whoa. Must be Burt Reynolds or something.

Then Jay hits us with a little more clarity this morning.

Oh man. This has gotta be big, right? I mean, someone wouldn’t go on Jason Smith’s late-night Fox Sports Radio show to tease “legit big” breaking news if it wasn’t legit and/or big, right?

In case you don’t feel like clicking on Jay’s Twitlonger link (which I don’t blame you, and not just because it sounds dirty to click on another man’s Twitlonger link), the full tweet reads:

Breaking: First active NFL player to test positive for the corona virus, Rams C Brian Allen, told me he tested positive for COVID-19 three weeks ago and then again early last week.
Lost all smell and taste to where he couldn’t even smell an ammonia smelling-salt. Has no taste. Then the flu began. Says he’s now finally symptom-free and thankfully expecting the “all clear” this week!
Rams had to close their facility weeks ago to injured players (facilities are only open for medical) but are able to re-open next week @NFLonFOX

Jay was right about the fact that this isn’t news to make fun of, but honestly that’s about all he was right on. Don’t think I’m about to make fun of the news about someone testing positive for COVID-19. I’m not. I’m about to make fun of the person who broke the news. And hyped it.

There are roughly 1,696 rostered players in the NFL right now. At the time of writing this, there are 641,000 confirmed cases nationwide. It’s not that shocking to believe an NFL player has finally tested positive, especially after NBA, NHL, and MiLB players have all tested positive so far. And calling this breaking news big is a tad much. Aaron Rodgers didn’t test positive. It was a lesser-known offensive lineman for a third-place NFC West team.

Tom Hanks getting the ‘rona is breaking news. Kevin Durant coming down with the ‘vid is breaking news. Hell, I’d even agree Sean Payton getting the corona sniffles is breaking news. But a guy named Brian who plays on the Rams offensive line? I don’t even know if I’d click on that story on ESPN.com’s front page. No offense. Is it important? Absolutely. Is it this needs to be teased for 24-hours ahead of time before I announce it in a Twitlonger link? Hell no.

And the fact that he sat on this news, and hyped it, only to drop it on his FS1 show only just makes the whole thing look lamer. Just because there are no sports, doesn’t mean any news regarding sports are “very big” and “legit big.” I’m not mad. I’m just severely disappointed.

To Brian Allen… get better man. This virus is no joke. Trust me, we all wouldn’t be locked up if it wasn’t. Beat it, let’s continue to flatten the curve, and let’s see you on Sundays this fall.

To Jay… *sigh.* I guess I just won’t be surprised when you drop some major breaking news next time about an NFL assistant GM stubbing his toe.

LOS ANGELES — As a popular random act of kindness, many times you’ll see people pay for the order of the person behind them in line at Starbucks. However, for notable cheapskate Stan Kroenke, owner of the Los Angeles Rams, he recently had the person behind him in line pay for his coffee.

David Kline, 28, a frequent Starbucks customer was shocked when he realized the tab for Kroenke’s drink was left as his responsibility.

“I was just standing in line, minding my own business, when all of a sudden the cashier told me I had to buy the order of the person in front of me,” Kline said. “I mean, it was bad enough I had to stair at his hairpiece while in line, but then I had to pay for his order too?! Are you kidding me?”

Kroenke’s order wasn’t cheap either. According to Kline, the Rams owner ordered a venti Salted Caramel Mocha Frappucino with three added shots and a melted cake pop drizzled over the top which came out to a whopping $9.47.

“I didn’t even know you could get a melted cake pop drizzled over a drink,” Kline added. “Talk about privilege.” However, it is widely believed that Kroenke will be forced by the NFL to share his drink with the owner of the Chargers.

Kroenke could not be reached for comment as he bolted out of the store almost as quickly as he did St. Louis.
